The Criteria For Application to Canada’s FSW Program Can Be Daunting. If You Are Like Other Applicants, You Will Need Help.
As of May 1, 2014, the Canadian Government will only consider your Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) application if you have:
- At least one year of continuous, and paid (full-time. or an equal amount in part-time) work experience in a single occupation, during the past 10 years,
- Skill Type 0: Such as management (restaurant managers, mine managers) or are a shore captain (fishing)
- Skill Level A or B: Like a doctor, dentist, architect, or a technical or skilled trade, such as a chef, electrician, or plumber.
Or if you:
- Work in one of these occupations, and your application is received under the occupation’s sub-cap, and overall FSW cap, or
- Have a valid offer of arranged employment, or
- Are applying under a PhD program (unless the cap of 500 applications has been reached).
PLUS, you must also:
- Meet Canada’s minimum language threshold (and submit approved language test results), and
- Submit a Canadian educational credential or foreign credential and an assessment of your foreign education from an approved agency, and
- Meet all the requirements of the FSW Program.
If you are confused, we understand. There are a lot of details to consider, and standards to meet.
