Portugal

Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic is a country located on the Iberian Peninsula, in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost sovereign state in mainland Europe, bordered to the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the north and east by Spain.

Portugal a mix of stunning landscapes, colorful cities and old trams. The country sits on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Under the warm Portuguese sun, there’s also the freezing cold areas.

Lisbon is the largest city in Portugal and is also the Portuguese Capital. Surprise: it’s also one of the oldest cities in Europe. People can speak English or French, which can be quite handy!

Portugal isn’t that expensive in comparison to its neighbors. Food and drinks are quite cheap and you can enjoy many landscapes without spending any money.

It adopted the euro currency right from the start and is also a member of the Schengen Area.

Portugal offers relatively low operating costs – with labor at 50% of the EU average cost – but a well-educated population and highly developed infrastructure and communications networks.

Portugal is one of the safest countries in the world and has internationally acclaimed and affordable healthcare and education systems. It also boasts a wonderful climate.

The peak season is during the summer, June to September. It’s the best time to visit Portugal (and to get a tan).
