Canada, the happiest country

We’ve got amazing news from Canada! For most of us, the dream of moving to Canada is based on seeking a better life. According to The 2015 World Happiness Report, living in Canada will boost your happiness instantly, since Canada has just been named the fifth Happiest Country on the planet.

The report, counting 158 different countries was made by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network and included analysis in psychology, health, public policies, economics and national statistics. Other factors considered in the analysis include GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, generosity and perceptions of corruption.

All the 158 countries are ranked in part on Gallup Worldpoll Data, asking respondents between 2012-2014 to rate their lives on a scale from 0 to 10, measuring their life from the worst possible to the best possible conditions of living.

According to the report, the most happiest people on Earth live in:

1. Switzerland (7.587)

2. Iceland (7.561)

3. Denmark (7.527)

4. Norway (7.522)

5. Canada (7.427)

In the last report, published in 2013, Canada ranked sixth in the world. The respondents in Canada were bot native Canadians and immigrants, relocated to start a new life and achieve a greater level of well-being.

This year’s report was edited by Prof. John F. Helliwell, from the University of British Columbia. He said the authors are pleased that more governments are increasingly looking at happiness and well-being as measures of national progress.

“As the science of happiness advances, we are getting to the heart of what factors define quality of life for citizens,” he said.

The report also included a chapter on mental health among children and adolescents.

In this case, Canada’s government is already focused on adopting child well-being strategies, training professionals to work with youth and promoting well being and diversity in schools, while introducing technologies and innovative support programs.

“As we consider the value of happiness in today’s report, we must of course also consider the need to invest early-on in the lives of our children so that they grow to become dependent, productive and happy adults, in turn contributing socially and economically,” co-editor Prof. Richard Layard said in a later statement.

With all this new information, seems like living in Canada is excellent and improving on a day-to-day basis.
